Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX300 – A Review


Another big hit by Sony! In the recent years, Sony has been coming up with such high-tech gadgets that it is being reckoned that very soon Sony will lead this gadget and technology industry.  Being advertised as the world’s lightest and smallest, pocket-able, point-and-shoot camera digital camera, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX300, with only 166gm, offers its buyers a 20x optical zoom. The built-in Wi-Fi is luring all the gadget-freaks all around the world.

This exquisitely designed device is available in 4 colors; has sleek exterior, pointed corners and a larger 3-inch screen. The top-notch Minolta G lens has been used.  The lens is especially useful for outdoor and nature photography. It has a minimum focusing distance of 5 cm and even very fine details are effectively captures. There are 14 scene modes to choose from, notable is the Soft Skin mode, which recognizes skin tones and reduces blemishes and wrinkles. iSweep Panorama mode enables you to sweep through the camera and capture a panorama of scenes. iAuto mode identifies the scene you are about to shoot and modifies the settings accordingly.

Switching from off to ready mode it takes 2.3 seconds. Shot to shot interval is 1 second. With a touted burst speed of 10 shots per second, it actually is 6.

WX300 is capable of taking full-HD videos. As it has highly sensitive microphones, it can effortlessly detect slightest sounds. Videos are recorded at Full 1080p HD (at 50i), they are no more blur or smudged, thanks to the zoom capabilities, they are as sharp as the stills are.
